I'm quitting! | Personal Update
Don't worry, Sarah Mesa Photography is not closing it's doors! On the contrary, I'm finally making my job as owner and photographer for Sarah Mesa Photography into a full-time position!
Moving Sarah Mesa Photography from Savannah, Georgia, to Louisville, Kentucky, has taken a lot of time and energy. I never knew how much work was going to go into rebuilding my clientele, rediscovering locations, and understanding the demographic of a new city. As I transitioned I began working full-time as a secretary — a job that served me well and was a tremendous blessing. But as business grew, I realized my commitment to my business was lacking and more so the commitment to my husband and home.
I was torn between many things and I wanted to be perfect in each of those areas! But the thought of leaving a stable job with a steady income was an unsettling prospect. Photography is not a job where one is paid weekly or monthly; often times there are slow seasons where one might not see a paycheck for a few weeks. But over these last few months I have noticed this amazing growth that caused me to reevaluate if photography could be a full-time job — and what I found was it was.
So it is because you and your commitment to preserving your families' memories that is allowing me to leave my full-time position and put all my efforts behind Sarah Mesa Photography!
So what does this mean? It means I will have more time for you — to book sessions, to edit your images, to continue growing my skills as a photographer, and so much more! I'm absolutely thrilled for this new stage that all of you have brought me into! I would not be able to leave a full-time position if it was not for a clientele who appreciated my work, was joyful to spread the word about my name, and quite honestly, make me a better photographer.
Now, if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that SMP has some other awesome news: in May we will be adding a brand new team member. Now, she might not be able to do much more then sit there and look cute, but she will surely get paid with plenty of love and kisses. We're having a little girl!
So this means that I will not be booking weddings from the beginning of May until mid-July. During this time I will continue to accept all other sessions but just in a limited basis.
I'm thrilled to start taking this time to work on the website, on making packages more suited for you, and focusing on serving you better. So thanks to all of you who supported Sarah Mesa Photography. As a small token of my appreciation I'm offering a 25% discount on gift certificates and all sessions booked in January (not including weddings). Please mention this blog post to redeem the coupon!
Again, thank you!
