3 Reasons a Mini Session Might Be Right For You

Y’all! It’s already AUGUST! Can you believe it? I’m still in a bit of shock over here—where did my summer go? This time of year is always filled with talk about school starting, pools closing, when pumpkin spice lattes will be available (hint: early September), and, yes, fall mini sessions!

I know it might be hard to think about long pants, sweaters, and layers when—at least in Augusta—we’re still wearing shorts and tank tops. But, friends, it is coming! And before you know it, it’ll be November and you’ll be wondering if you can get away with an iPhone photo for this year’s Christmas card—maybe even a photo of just your Christmas tree.

So let me share with you (now, before it’s too late!) three reasons why a mini session might be right for you this fall.

1. The Time Commitment Is Brief

An hour-long session can sound daunting. I get it! You have a little one who can only go 30 minutes before he or she is ready for another nap. Your husband hates being in front of the camera. Maybe your fall schedule is so jammed pack that you can only spare half-an-hour between school letting out, the kid’s football game starting, and dinner needing to be on the table. Life can be crazy!

This is where a mini session can be the perfect opportunity for you. Mini sessions are only 30 minutes, and are the perfect chance to get the few photos you need to update your photo wall, add an image to your Christmas card, and print some goodies for the grandparents.

2. The Price Is Right

If you already agree on why you should invest in a family session, then you understand the significance but just can’t afford to spend a few hundred dollars on new family photos. For the budget-conscious families, mini sessions come in at half the cost of a family session and make for a much easier price tag for many.

As one who loves to budget and save money where possible (did someone say meal planning, cord-cutting, and thrift store shopping?), my main reason to offer mini sessions to my clients is to make affordable something that would be cost prohibitive.

3. The Quality Consistent

It might be easy to think that if you pay half the price of a session, you’ll get half the quality end product. But let me debunk that myth.

Often I see mini sessions offered at half the price but end with a “gotcha” offer that forces you to pay 10x your session fee in order to get any photos. Other times the session even includes your photos, but you find out later it’s only five digital images. This is where I pride myself in being different: my mini sessions are half the cost and half the time, yes, but never half the quality!

For 30 minutes, we’ll take less images, but you’ll still recieve 40–50 high-resolution images (read: the biggest size you can get!) inside an online gallery where you can download the images directly for no additional cost. I don’t want to pull you in at low prices, just to surprise you with a large bill at the end in order to recieve your photos. I want to serve you well, no matter the session you purchase.
